Mission

Brick City Peace Collective (BCPC) works to reduce violence in Newark, NJ by bringing together members of Newark's public safety ecosystem - comprising grassroot organizations, service providers, and city departments including law enforcement to promote effective collaboration, inform strategy development and implementation and coordinate resource deployment. Through leveraging the city's collective power BCPC is able to drive systems change strategies which center those most impacted by violence while creating a sustainable pathway toward peace for all Newark's residents.

Vision

Mayor Baraka’s vision for the Brick City Peace Collective is to be a catalyst to support your organization’s efforts through technical support toward the advance of a locally driven, multi-stakeholder collective network targeting local-level conflicts.

Through access to funding, resources, technical assistance, and capacity building for your organization, we can achieve our goals together. Coupling this with measurable, data-driven, and system-change strategies, we can decrease violence and ultimately change lives.

BCPC is defined as a collective that can be a redirected alternative for first-time offenders and youth offenders from the criminal justice system through connecting them to community-based and social service organizations.

The Collective will work together to identify initiatives, programs, and opportunities to reduce violence and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and communities. This work will center around research, policy development, analysis, and identifying best practices.
